Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) Tel Aviv is the primary international Airport of Israel and is located 15 km southeast of Tel Aviv and is 40 km from the sacred city of Jerusalem. It began functioning as a military airstrip in 1932 and remained in the control of British till 1948, during which time it was mainly used as a military air terminal. The airport came into the control of Israeli forces from 1948 and it was being used as a civil Airport since then.

Now Terminal 3 is the main area of the Ben Gurion Airport that was named after its ex-Prime Minister David Ben- Gurion. Today the Ben Gurion Airport is the gateway to Israel and has wide connections with numerous cities all over the World. Terminal 3 handles the international flights while the terminal 1 is meant for domestic flights and some low-cost international flights.

If you want to save money while getting transferred to the city from the airport you can use the train to reach Tel Aviv, Modi’in, Jerusalem, Atlit and Binyamina and – Haifa and the Krayot, Nahariya, and Akko in the North or Beersheva in the South.

You can catch your train from 5.30 AM to midnight. Though bus services are available to reach the cities from the airport, it is always preferable to go for the train or taxi service especially if you are not speaking Hebrew. Traveling by taxi is the easiest way to reach your destination, and it may be a little expensive than traveling on the local buses.
