Iceland is an awesome country that comprises of various and famous attractions like blue lagoons, volcanoes, fantastic landscapes and natural wonders. As well as museums, restaurants, shopping areas, bars with lots of atmosphere and much more where you can go and enjoy complete fun during your visit.

By getting a car rental service you can save time and enjoy watching most exotic and beautiful places of this unique country in your own way with complete convenience.

One of the fundamental tours when you visit Iceland is the known as the Golden Circle.

If you have little time and you have to choose between several options, this could be the most convenient, since it is an extraordinary vision of the most representative sights of the island.

There aren’t many inhabitants in this fantastic country, so traffic is nonexistent once you’re outside of the capital city. In the summer, you’ll have to keep an eye out for herds of sheep or others animals crossing the road.

In the winter, roads can get icy. Weather changes quickly in Iceland, and a sunny morning can easily turn into a snowstorm later that day, so we recomend that you check the weather conditions before your day trip departure.

You can take as long as you want driving the Golden Circle and if you just want to do the highlights version you can probably get through it in 3-4 hours.  According to Google Maps this is 237 kilometers and it will take you 3 hours and 21 minutes to drive. With stops along the way you’re looking at 6 – 8 hours depending on how many places (or how long) you explore.

We remind you that has partners in Iceland and is renowned for offering great value car hire service without any hidden charge and no surprises when you pick up the car.

You can start the route from Reykjavik where you will find the largest hotel concentration.

The first stop could be the historical and geological wonder that is Thingvellir National Park, where the Vikings founded the Icelandic Parliament Alþingi in the year 930 AD. This is the oldest still existing parliament in the World. This is a UNESCO world heritage site, home to Iceland‘s largest natural lake where the American and Eurasian tectonic plates are pulling apart at a rate of a few centimetres per year.

From here the trip could continue through an area of breathtaking scenery towards two of Iceland’s greatest natural attractions: the Gullfoss waterfall and the Geysir hot spring area.

Here, in the Geysir geothermal area is where the Strokkur geyser shoots a column of water up to 30 metres into the air every 4-8 minutes in a impressive display of nature’s forces. This area is an impressive collage of bubbling mud pools, hissing steam vents, and colourful algae deposits.

Then you can continue the trip wondering by watching the Gullfoss (Golden Falls) waterfall, created by the river Hvítá, which plunges into a crevice some 32 m deep.

At Gullfoss waterfall you can take a short walk a pathway and get right up close to this powerful waterfall and feel the mist of glacial water inyour skin as it cascades down into the narrow Hvítárgljúfur Canyon.

After that you can start more adventures with your car hire with endless snowfields or multicolored panoramic views.

Your final big stop on the Golden Circle could be the Kerid Crater Lake. Once a typical cone-shaped volcano, the top has since collapsed into an empty magma chamber.

The bottom is filled with a deep blue shade of water that sets off the red & green colors on the crater itself.

From here you will reach Reykjavik, the final destination, in about 50 minutes following the road 1.
